Groom Week 2023: A Thanks to Our Indispensible Grooms

september 12. 2023

This week we celebrate our grooms and their amazing work

Many of our riders at Helgstrand Dressage participate in numerous classes at the shows at our venue, Helgstrand Event, in Uggerhalne. Therefore, our grooms play a vital role in managing and assisting the riders and horses that are competing.

Our grooms are there to help every step of the way. From preparation of the horses, making sure they are washed, braided and saddled. Additionally, assisting in the warm-up and the way to the show arena. Finally, they film their rider, and are ready and prepared to take care of the horse and wash the horse once the rider has finished their program.

Grooms can be working under pressure if a rider has multiple horses within one class, meaning extensive amount of preparation and help is required from the grooms. Luckily our grooms are dedicated and supportive of each other, giving a helping hand when needed, allowing the day to go smoothly.

Our grooms go above and beyond every day to ensure smooth and stress-free operations on show days for both riders and horses. This week is about showing our appreciating and gratitude towards our grooms. Thank you to the team for making the experience at Helgstrand Event so special!

Roles Reversed

Normally the grooms are helping the riders and their horses every step of the way, both on normal and show days. However, the grooms at Helgstrand Dressage are presented with unique opportunities to compete in shows hosted by Helgstrand Event. At these shows the rider is there supporting the groom before and after they compete, taking over their grooms’ responsibilities.

Many of our grooms competed at the national level B event in February. Additionally, at the national event for horses and ponies, presented by Pavo, in the summer, performing exceptionally in their respective classes.

This not only gives our grooms excellent opportunities, but it also allows their riders to show their appreciation and thank them for their continual support.
